Summer Open Days May 2010

Don't miss out on a fantastic opportunity to see summer at Lytham Hall.

Free entry to the grounds every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
On Sundays and Bank Holidays: Admission to the grounds: £1.00 Adults / 50p Children
Opening Times: 12.30pm to 4.30pm, with last entry at 3.30pm

The house is open for a guided tour every Sunday starting at 2.00pm
Admission to the tour: £4.00 Adults / £2.00 Children except on the last Sunday of every month and Bank Holidays when the house will be open to the public from 1.30pm - 4.30pm.
Admission to the house on the last Sunday of every month and Bank Holidays: £2.50 Adults / £1.00 Children.

The tearoom is open every Sunday and Bank Holiday for a selection of light refreshments.

Lytham Hall Lectures 2010

'The Development of the Clifton Gardens at Lytham Hall'
by Ruth Thurnhill of the Lancashire Gardens Trust

Ruth Thurnhill took a part-time degree module in Garden and Landscape Studies at Manchester University.  A postgraduate degree was followed by a Masters at Lancaster University.  She recently assisted in forming the Lancashire Gardens Trust and is researching the A to D category gardens in Lancashire.

Sessions: Session A commences at 10.00am (please arrive at 9.30am).  Lunch is from 12.30pm-1.30pm.  The afternoon session concluded at 3.30pm.
If attending, please bring a 4" square of clear perspex or toughened glass, some rags and artists' brushes up to 1" size.  Other materials will be supplied by the tutor.

Nigel Leaney's specialist subject is conservation and restoration of gilded and painted objects and traditional materials.  He has conducted research into original historical colour schemes, especially those used in John Carr's interiors.

Dr. Ivan Hall was a Historic Buildings Officer for the GLC and the London borough of English Heritage.  He has written extensively on architecture, furniture history and landscape gardening.

John is a former Conservation Officer for Lancashire County Council.  He has recently completed a book entitled Country Houses in Lancashire and their Builders, scheduled for publication in March 2011.

'Furniture of the North West'
by Susan Bourne

Susan Bourne has recently retired as Curator at Towneley Hall, Burnley.  She is an acknowledged expert on English furniture and a founder member of the Regional Furniture Society.

Classic Car Show Sunday 8 August

A Classic Car and Motorcycle Show in the grounds of Lytham Hall.
Admission: £TBC Adults / £TBC Children
Times: 10.30am - 4.30pm.
In addition to the rally, the Hall and tearoom will be open from 11.00am to 4.30pm.  Please note there is a separate entry fee to the Hall.

Heritage Open Day Sunday 12 September

Heritage Open Days celebrates England's architecture and culture by allowing visitors free access to interesting properties that are either not usually open, or would normally charge an entrance fee.  This is England's biggest and most popular voluntary cultural event.

The Hall is owned by Lytham Town Trust (Reg Charity no. 1000090) and managed by Heritage Trust for the North West (Reg Charity no. 508300)
